  • They can expand their reach by requesting introductions through external networks

Getting Started: Setting Up Your Portfolio Companies

Step 1: Invitation Process

  1. Collect Email Addresses

    • Gather the primary email address for each portfolio company you want to invite

    • Share these emails with your Getro representative via Slack

  2. Network Creation

    • Getro's team will create a dedicated network for each company

    • This process typically takes 1-2 business days

    • You'll receive confirmation when networks are created

  3. Invitation Delivery

    • Portfolio companies will receive an email invitation with the subject line "You've been invited to join [Company Name]'s Getro Network"

    • Note: Advise companies to check spam/promotions folders if they don't see the invitation

Step 2: Portfolio Company Account Setup

  1. Accept Invitation

    • Portfolio company representative clicks the "Join Network" button in the invitation email

    • They'll be directed to a signup page

  2. Account Creation

    • Two signup options:

      • Sign up with Google (recommended for faster setup)

      • Sign up with email address

    • If using email, they'll create a password and complete a verification process

    • Important: The email used for signup must match the email that received the invitation

  3. Browser Extension Installation

  4. LinkedIn Connection

    • After installing the extension, users will be prompted to connect their LinkedIn account

    • They'll need to be logged into LinkedIn in the same browser

    • Privacy Note: Clarify that Getro only accesses their LinkedIn connections, not private messages or activity

  5. Contact Synchronization

    • Their LinkedIn connections will begin syncing automatically

    • Initial sync can take 5-30 minutes depending on network size

    • Important: Users should keep their browser open during the initial sync

Step 3: Portfolio Team Setup

  1. Admin Configuration

    • The initial user becomes the network admin by default

    • Admins can invite additional team members via the "Team" tab in the sidebar

    • Recommended: Start with core leadership team before expanding to all employees

  2. Team Member Invitations

    • Admin enters team member email addresses and assigns roles:

      • Admin: Full access to all features and settings

      • Member: Can search contacts and create lists, but cannot change settings

      • Ally: Can share contacts but cannot search the entire network

    • Best Practice: Include a personalized message explaining why they're being added

  3. Build a Target Account List

    • In the LIsts tab, click create new

    • Create a new companies list

    • Add a list of domains for your target accounts

    • Share the list with your allies, advisors and investors.

  4. Invite Allies

    • Companies can invite advisors as "allies" to share their networks

    • Advisors will only see their own contacts and those shared directly with them

    • Sending a shared list of Target accounts will prompt the ally to install the chrome extension, then offer intros.

    • Note: Advise companies to communicate with advisors beforehand about the invitation

By following these detailed steps, your portfolio companies will be able to set up and start leveraging Getro quickly and effectively. The platform is designed to deliver immediate value through network insights while scaling alongside company growth.
