What Are Custom Fields?
Custom fields let you add your own tags or labels to contacts inside a list. Think of them as extra columns you can create in your contact list table to track details that matter to you. For example, you might add a field to note where a lead came from, what stage of outreach they’re in, or who introduced them.
These fields are flexible and simple and can be set up with a few simple clicks.
Key Features
Add your own fields: Create either a text field (where you can type anything) or a dropdown menu (with preset options to choose from).
Change or remove fields: Rename fields if you want to adjust them later, or delete them entirely if they’re no longer needed. (Deleting a field will remove it and all its values from the list.)
Manage dropdown options: Add, rename, or delete dropdown choices. If you rename an option, it updates for all contacts. If you delete an option, those contacts’ fields will simply be cleared.
List-specific: Fields only exist within the list you create them in. They don’t carry over to other lists.
Visible in the list only: Custom fields are shown only in the contact list table, not in profiles, exports, or shared views.
Why Use Custom Fields?
Custom fields give you a lightweight way to stay organized. Instead of switching to a spreadsheet, you can track extra information right in Getro.
Here are some common use cases:
Track outreach status: “Contacted,” “Intro Sent,” “Closed.”
Store lead source info: “Referral,” “Conference,” “Inbound.”
Add custom notes: Quick context like “Warm intro from CEO.”
By capturing this information in one place, your team can work more efficiently and avoid losing track of important details.
Things to Keep in Mind
Custom fields are currently only available in the list view. At this time, you cannot filter, export, or view them in contact profiles.
Deleting a field or dropdown option is permanent. It clears the associated data from your list.
Each list has its own set of fields. If you want to track the same info in another list, you’ll need to add the field there too.
Custom fields make your contact lists more powerful by letting you capture the exact details you care about. They’re quick to set up, easy to edit, and scoped only to the list where you need them. If you’re managing outreach or tracking leads, custom fields help you do it all inside Getro—no spreadsheets required.
