Why is a job description not available on my job board?

We aim to provide job descriptions for every role displayed on your Getro job board. However, sometimes a job description may not appear even though the job itself is listed. This is expected behavior and can happen for several reasons.

What does “job description coverage” mean?

Job description coverage refers to the percentage of active jobs on your job board that successfully display a job description. Currently, our system retrieves job descriptions for the majority of postings. At this time, approximately 80% of job postings will include a job description, but we can’t guarantee 100% coverage.

Why are some jobs missing job descriptions?

It’s normal for some jobs to have descriptions while others don’t, even within the same company. Here’s why:

  • Different sources per company
A single company may publish jobs from different sources (or from sources that are split into multiple feeds for efficiency). That means some postings are processed differently than others.

  • Asynchronous extraction
Job description extraction happens job by job, at different times. Some jobs may already have been extracted, while others are still in the queue.

  • Common technical issues
Several things can interrupt job description extraction:

    • Network errors during the extraction process.

    • Rate limits on the company’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) (e.g., only the first 10 jobs per minute can be retrieved).

    • Job expiring between the time it’s posted and when we extract it.

    • Some postings simply don’t include a job description at all—just a title.

  • Delays
There can be short delays in extraction. If a job description isn’t available now, it may appear after the next extraction cycle.

Will missing job descriptions ever be fixed?

Yes, if a job is active but missing a job description, our system will attempt to extract it again in subsequent cycles. In many cases, job descriptions appear after a day or two once extraction retries succeed.

Our goal is to reach 100% coverage, but for now, missing job descriptions can be expected due to the complexity of extracting jobs from multiple sources. Coverage is high overall, and our system continuously retries extraction, so missing job descriptions often appear later.
